Half of the respondents answered that they did not believe in God. However, they believed in a higher power. When asked why they do not believe in God, more than half said that they do not believe in God, but they believe in a higher power or spiritual force that is beyond themselves.
Transcendent belief
Transcendence means the belief that a higher power exists over and beyond our world. It does not have to be a god or spiritual entity. It can even be a thought. Executioners at Enron for example promoted the idea that their company was revolutionizing businesses by doing right and ethical things.
Many religions are familiar with the idea of transcendent beliefs. Though different religions hold different views regarding the nature of gods, they all believe there is an omnipotent, transcendent power that orchestrates our lives. There is much debate about the exact nature of god. However, the important point is that it created all things.
Agnosticism
The Greek word agnostos, which means "without God", and the French term atheisme are the words that gave rise to the word agnostic. Agnosticism does not necessarily mean atheism. Even though some people believe in no god, this does not prevent anyone from living a spiritual existence.
Agnosticism refers to a philosophical belief that God's existence is unknown. Agnosticism, contrary to atheism is a philosophical position that holds that there are many truths to be discovered about the universe and life.
Apathy
Apatheism is the basic definition of a person who lacks faith in a higher power. Apatheists believe that they can achieve existential security without a god. Apathy towards God can be described as the opposite of love. In fact, there are many Scriptures that show this is not possible.
Psalm 14 describes a person, for example, as someone who lacks the need to God. As a result, the hiker fled from the bear without even remembering its characteristics. Apathy is caused by a lack of emotion.
