Ancient religions of the Iranian people
The ancient Iranian religions were based on the concept of a three-tiered cosmos, consisting of earth, sky and heaven above. They were very much like other Indo-European religions. Many male deities were included in their pantheon, which represented natural phenomena, social norms, and institutions. There were two main categories in the Iranian pantheon: Ahuras and Daivas. Daivas in Persian meant "heavenly one", and Ahuras was a noble sovereign deity who opposed bagha, yazatas, and demon-like entities that are worshipped only by a minority.

Sunnis in Iran are often intimidated and harassed by the Iranian government, and are therefore restricted from practicing their religion in all areas. Sunnis living in Iran have been subject to numerous arbitrary raids and beatings. They are also often prohibited from visiting their religious places, even on holidays.
