Ancient iranian religions are similar to those of zoroastrianism and Christianity. Reading the rabbinic writings from the time can help you see similarities between these cultures' beliefs. This article explores the similarities and differences between them. Read on to learn more about Iranian religions.

Ancient religions of the Iranian people

The ancient Iranian religions were based on the concept of a three-tiered cosmos, consisting of earth, sky and heaven above. They were very much like other Indo-European religions. Many male deities were included in their pantheon, which represented natural phenomena, social norms, and institutions. There were two main categories in the Iranian pantheon: Ahuras and Daivas. Daivas in Persian meant "heavenly one", and Ahuras was a noble sovereign deity who opposed bagha, yazatas, and demon-like entities that are worshipped only by a minority.
