The goal of a world religion class is to expose students to the beliefs of different religions. They will learn about seven of most popular religions around the globe and have a respectful conversation with other faiths. In turn, they will be better equipped to handle conflict resolution and gain a deeper understanding of their own religious beliefs.
Students will be able to learn about seven of most well-known religions around the globe
Students will study the different religions of Christianity, Islam Sikhism Buddhism, Christianity and Sikhism. Students will also learn about smaller religious movements. Quizzes and assignments are also part of this course. Students must earn a grade of 70% or higher to pass.
Identify terms such as monotheism (or polytheism), and then define them. Remember the terms and use them in the future. Ask students to list the least known faiths. They can write their answers in journals or in the W column of a KWL chart. Teachers need to remind students of ground rules before they start discussions. Tell them to not share personal information. The discussion will include each faith and will not lead to negative judgments.
They will exchange mutually beneficial dialog with believers in other religions
Participants will be able to learn about the role of each religion as an ethical teacher for other religions during this course. This interaction will enable each tradition to offer ethical tips that can help us all learn and grow. They will also act as prophets and mystics, challenging and enticing one another, and breaking down barriers of hard-won beliefs.
They will be able to explain their own religious beliefs
Students will learn about different religions around the world and be able to explain their own beliefs. Students will also learn terms such as monotheism (polytheism), and nontheism. These terms should be taught to students and defined for future use. It is also helpful to ask students to identify which religions are most unfamiliar. Next, ask students to record their answers in a notebook or in the W column in a KWL table. As students do this, the teacher should remind them of the rules. She should assure them that they may not discuss personal information, and that discussion should be about exploring each religion without negative judgment.
A World religion class is interactive and can be very entertaining. Students can share their discoveries, create quizzes and even host a "Jeopardy!" Students can also create quizzes, share their findings or organize a "Jeopardy!" competition. Students can also discuss the words they've just learned, holidays and religious observances.
They will be able to engage in conflict resolution
In this course, students explore the Abrahamic Religions - Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. They will also learn all about Jewish Beth Din, Palestinian tradition, sulha, Christian, and Muslim Courts, as well the lives of individuals of different faith traditions. These studies will provide students with the knowledge and tools necessary to help resolve conflict.
The course will teach students about different religions and the role religion plays in different areas of the globe. Students will also be taught about the role religion plays in conflicts and how they affect education and civic life.

Students who take a World religion class learn how religion influences our world. While religion study is difficult, it's also fun and rewarding. It doesn't require you memorizing formulas, or to rote learn. It encourages real-life skills. Students can learn more about religion and improve their understanding of others. Students will be able to see the world from a wider perspective and have a greater comfort with challenging topics.
