Utu, who was also the father Nanna (the moon God) and the twin brother of Inanna, was also depicted.

Ninib

Ninib, the Sumerian god of war, was a powerful warrior. Enlil, his father's commandment, ordered Ninib to go forth. Ninib was first associated with vegetation. Ninib was the personification of the sun. He was originally part of the "Nippur" circle of deities, which also included Enlil, the god of rains and storms. Enlil, the head of the pantheon gave Ninib a piece of the conquests of chaos.

Utu

Utu, Sumerian sun god, is also known for being the gods of truth, morality, justice, and honesty. The god was the son of the fertility goddess Ningal and the god of the sun. He was revered by the people and helped plants to grow by giving them sunlight. His image is of an elderly man carrying a solar disc. Utu is also remembered for his contribution to the Law Code of Hammurabi. It is considered the basis of human societies.

Utu was also the brother of the goddess Inanna. They are considered more than siblings and they are very close. Inanna, however, is not happy with Utu. Utu would continue his daily trek. Inanna sought the assistance of Gilgamesh who killed the serpent, drove away Utu, and sent the evil spirit from a Lillitu fleeing the scene. Inanna also requested the assistance of the goddess, who slew serpents and sent her Lillitu demon fleeing. Inanna was then presented with her throne after Gilgamesh chopped down a Tree.

Inanna

Inanna is a Sumerian Goddess of Love and Fertility. She is also known as Ishtar in Akkadian. She was married the shepherd-king Dumuzi. They were both made gods at one point but their relationship was complicated. Inanna was often depicted in youthful, impetuous and seeking more power.

The poem is dated to around 2800 BCE and describes Inanna's courtship with Dumuzi. Similarly, the poem "Inanna Prefers the Farmer" depicts Inanna's courtship with a farmer. It also describes her rejection of Enkimdu, a farmer, and her eventual marriage with Dumuzi, a shepherd.
