These movies are great for fans of Greek mythology. These movies are full of drama, action, history, and drama. These films have something for everyone, whether you are looking for Percy Jackson, Hercules or O Brother Where Art Thou.

Hercules

Hercules is a popular character in Greek mythology, and many children enjoy watching animated movies about the hero. One of the most popular films is Disney's animated Hercules, which is based loosely on the life of the Greek hero. The story is about Hercules' twelve labors. It also features characters from the ancient Greek society. Danny DeVito and many other talented actors voice the animated cast.

Disney's Hercules movie is a delight and a great film for the whole family. While it doesn't depict the heroics and wit of the original Hercules it is a decent introduction to Greek mythology.

O Brother, Where Art Thou?

O Brother, where art Thou, a movie about Greek mythology, takes Homer's epic poem, The Odyssey, and places it in 1930s-era Mississippi. Though it is based on the epic poem, this film doesn't follow the plot word for word and focuses on modern life. Its setting also sets the story apart from The Odyssey, which is a work of ancient Greek mythology set in the Mediterranean Sea during the Bronze Age.

The setting of the Greek mythology story often causes modifications to the events. In The Odyssey, Odysseus and his crew disguise themselves as sheep, but in O Brother, Where Art Thou?, characters are dressed as Klu Klux Klan members. The setting plays an important part in the story's structure, narrative, and design.

Electra

Electra the daughter and granddaughter of King Agamemnon is devastated when her father and mother are killed by Clytemnestra (a rival king) and his spouse, Clytemnestra. Electra becomes bitter and hateful as a result of the tragedy. She and Orestes, her younger brother, devise a plan to revenge their father and get justice. They must reconcile their passion for justice and their feelings of matricide.

The classic example of Greek tragedy is Electra’s tragic tale. This playwright's dream character is the tale of revenge and retribution. The Electra role is wrathful and bitter, erudite, a dangerous woman - all that a playwright could desire in a character.

Percy Jackson

"Percy Jackson & the Olympians", the fifth book of Rick Riordan's Rick Riordan series, is about the adventures of Poseidon, the Greek god son. Percy gets involved in battles with deities as the story unfolds. John Rocco has illustrated the book. There is also a family history of the Greek gods. While the story may be similar to other Greek mythology novels, the author says that it is important to include stories not commonly found in traditional retellings.

Part of the story is the Titanomachy. This battle between Titans and gods is called the Titanomachy. Kronos the father of Titans did not trust his children and his wife concealed Zeus from Kronos. Kronos was distrusted when the baby ate Kronos's siblings.

The 300 Spartans

Zack Snyder has made The 300 Spartans a popular movie if Greek mythology is your favorite genre. The movie is based on Frank Miller's graphic novel. Although there are some similarities between the stories, there are also differences. Both films show brutality and machismo.

The film shows King Leonidas, a young man. The historical King was 60 years old when the tragedy occurred at Thermopylae. King Leonidas was loyal to his people even though he was too old for combat. King Xerxes succeeded him, who was younger with a beard.
